Paper-sided V15L: the everyday spec. Continuous filament, 134 yards, 144 to the gross. What most shops run, on most machines. (this one)

Sideless S15L: continuous filament with the sides left off, so 142 yards fit where 134 did. Less mass, so set your tension a touch tighter.

Cotton: for PFD garments dyed after stitching, where polyester will not take the dye, and for fine script where a softer thread lies flatter.
