Cloud Cover Stitch
Description
The Hook: Eliminate the "scratchy" complaint forever. Provide a silky-soft, retail finish on the back of your embroidery that protects the skin and adds a professional touch to every garment.
What It Is: Cloud Cover Stitch is a lightweight, ultra-soft fusible tricot designed to be ironed over the backside of a finished embroidery design. It acts as a protective barrier between the abrasive "knots and tails" of the embroidery and the wearer's skin. Unlike rigid interfacings, Cloud Cover features a unique multi-directional stretch that moves with the garment, maintaining its natural drape and feel.
Application Guidelines:
- The "Next-to-Skin" Essential: The absolute gold standard for baby garments, performance golf shirts, and thin T-shirts. If your embroidery is going to touch skin, Cloud Cover should be your final step.
- Protect Delicate Fabrics: Use it on the back of silks, satins, and fine linens during the sewing process to "arrest" unraveling or shredding. It stabilizes the fabric's integrity without adding weight or stiffness.
- Moderate Temp Bonding: Engineered to fuse at moderate temperatures, ensuring a secure bond with the fabric without risking heat damage to delicate synthetics or performance fibers.
⚠️ THE LABORATORY DISTINCTION:
Cloud Cover Stitch is NOT a stabilizer. It provides no structural support during the embroidery process. It is a finishing product meant to be applied AFTER the embroidery is complete and the backing has been trimmed.
Laboratory Pro-Tips:
- The "Invisible" Edge: Use pinking shears or a wavy-blade rotary cutter to trim your Cloud Cover Stitch. The non-linear edge makes the transition between the cover and the garment nearly invisible and prevents a "hard line" from showing through on light-colored tees.
- Size It Right: Cut your Cloud Cover roughly 1/4" to 1/2" larger than your trimmed stabilizer. This ensures the adhesive bonds directly to the garment fabric, locking the stabilizer edges down forever.
- Durability: Fully compatible with standard laundering and dry cleaning. It is designed to stay bonded and soft through the entire life of the garment.
